OF THE SEVEN STRING GUITAR

Steve Oda - sarod (25-stringed Indian instrument)
Matthew Grasso – 15-stringed Tantrakari guitar, just intonation guitar
Joe Fajen - tabla (Indian percussion)

Program:
Our program this year includes a musical tour around the globe. Robert Camilo performs transcriptions by the French composer Erik Satie on the alto extended 7-guitar. Dr. Aya Ueda and Matthew Grasso will present original compositions and arrangements sung in both English and Japanese. Indian musicians Steve Oda, Matthew Grasso, and Joe Fajen will perform the sacred ragas of North India. Ethnomusicologist Eric Ederer performs music in Near Eastern Modes on an innovative string instrument of his creation called the Nautilauta. He will be accompanied by Dr. Andrea Fishman on frame drum and voice.
